Meet
Ellen Byerrum
Ellen Byerrum is a Washington,
D.C., journalist, novelist and playwright. Her Crime of Fashion
mysteries star a savvy, stylish sleuth: Lacey Smithsonian, a reluctant
fashion reporter in Washington D.C., "The City Fashion Forgot."
Ellen also holds a Virginia private investigator's registration,
which helped to inspire her latest novel. Armed and Glamorous, the
sixth in the Crime of Fashion series. The book draws on Ellen's
experiences and demonstrates that a simple surveillance exercise
can go hilariously wrong. In this mystery, Lacey goes to P.I. school
in search of skills that might get her boosted to a better beat
with a little more respect. But appreciation is hard to find in
a classroom full of crazies, and the fashionably dressed body in
the parking lot doesn't make it any easier.
Ellen and her fictional creation
share a love for vintage clothes, a balcony overlooking the Potomac
River, and a humorous viewpoint on life, love, mystery, fashion,
and the wild and wacky world of Our Nation's Capital. Like nearly
every other writer, Ellen has wondered what the books might look
like as movies. And this summer, she'll get that opportunity. Lifetime
Television will bring two of the books to the small screen, Killer
Hair and Hostile Makeover, which are set to air in June. For more
details on the cable movies, visit http://www.ellenbyerrum.com.
While Ellen is currently working
on a psychological thriller, tentatively titled The Dollhouse in
the Crawlspace, she will soon return to Lacey and the Crime of Fashion
series. Ellen lives in Virginia with her husband, Bob Williams,
who is a font of wisdom, encouragement, and copy editing.
